    Ban on Hilsa catch

    Government has imposed a ban on catching Hilsa fish for 11 days, effective from Oct 5.

    The order is timed with the spawning season of the fish that has begun.
    On Tuesday, an announcement of Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock said the decision to ban Hilsa catching has been taken to ensure trouble-free spawning across Bangladesh.
    The ban will be effective until Oct 15.
    The announcement says necessary instructions have already been sent to agencies enforcing the law.
