The BNP-led 20-Party alliance was enforcing a dawn-to-dusk countrywide strike on Monday against the 16th Constitutional Amendment passed last week.

"A procession in front of Madartek Bazar was blocking traffic around 11 am and police urged them not to disrupt normalcy," Sobuzbagh Police OC Rafikul Islam told bdnews24.com.

“They threw three hand bombs at the policemen at one point. Police then fired from shotguns."

Md Hanif aka Jony, 26, was hit by a buckshot round in his leg.

He has been admitted at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital, said Inspector Mozammal Haque of the police outpost there.
