Sundarganj police OC Mozammel Haq on Monday informed the media of the chargesheet being filed on Thursday.

Jamaat and activists of its student front Islami Chhatra Shibir had run amok in Sundarganj Upazila on Feb 28 last year after its leader Delwar Hossain Sayedee was sentenced to death for war crimes.

They torched the Bamandanga Railway Station, uprooted tracks, and later attacked a police investigation centre in the locality, killing four constables.

Sundarganj police filed a murder case, naming 89 persons, including former Jamaat MP Abdul Aziz, alias ‘Ghoramara Aziz’.
So far, 107 of the accused have been arrested.
OC Haq said he had filed the chargesheet at the Gaibandha's Senior Judicial Magistrate's court.
Police had not disclosed the move earlier because of "special precautions", he said without elaborating.
Asked about the delay, he explained that three investigation officers had looking into the incident.
"I'm the last investigation officer. I couldn't submit the chargesheet earlier because of a delay in the enquiry," said the OC.
