Maritime ports of Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to hoist cautionary signal number 3, a special bulletin of the Met office said on Saturday morning.

All fishing boats and trawlers at the North Bay have been asked to remain close to shore until further notice.

A well-marked low, the bulletin said, was now lying over the northwest bay and adjoining Orissa coast which was causing a steep pressure gradient over the North Bay and forming strong winds.

Monsoon was still active over Bangladesh and elsewhere over North Bay, said the weather forecast.

Light to moderate rain and thunder showers with temporary strong wind were likely to occur on parts of Dhaka, Rajshahi, Rangpur, Khulna, Barisal, Chittagong and Sylhet divisions.

‘Moderately heavy’ to ‘very heavy showers’ are also expected at various parts of the country.
