“Students of Dr Fazle Rabbi Hall will have to leave by 9pm Thursday,” DMC Principal Ismail Khan said.

The decision was taken after talks with stakeholders in view of “students’ safety”.

A committee to look into Thursday’s incident “might be” formed in Saturday’s academic council meeting, Khan said.

Seven BCL activists injured in the clash have been admitted to the DMCH.

They are Sheikh Mohammad Alamin, Iftekhar Limon, Koushik Roy, Taslim Ahmed, ‘Robin’, ‘Tarek’, and ‘Sabuj’.

Robin, who claimed he was loyal to the hall unit president’s group, said they had protested against former Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal activist ‘Miraj’ joining the hall’s BCL unit general secretary Fahad’s group.

“Fahad loyalists attacked us in the afternoon with sticks and iron pipes,” he claimed.

Principal Khan said he was “very upset” over Thursday afternoon’s clash.
