“The news is not based on fact,” the ministry said in a statement on Saturday.

It says attention has been drawn to some media reports about summoning of the Deputy High Commissioner.

“This is to clarify that upon request from the Deputy High Commissioner, the Honourable Chief Minister of West Bengal gave time to her to pay a courtesy call on the Chief Minister on Sept 15,” read the statement.

A foreign ministry official told bdnews24.com that Deputy High Commissioner Abida Islam has been transferred to the Dhaka.
“It was a farewell call,” the senior official said.
Indian media earlier reported that Banerjee summoned Islam on Saturday following a report in Kolkata-based Ananda Bazar Patrika.
The report claimed a Rajya Sabha member of Mamata Banerjee led Trinamool Congress funded Jamaat-e-Islami in Bangladesh to destabilise the Awami League government.
