Ctg businessman lodges complaint against police official, journalist in court

A businessman in Chittagong has lodged a complaint with court accusing a police official and her journalist husband of 'abusing power'.

According to the plea filed with the court of Chittagong's Sessions Judge Obaidus Sobhan, the police official, her husband along with others held Mahbub Morhsed and his three children at a police station for two days.

The plaintiff's counsel said at the hearing that they had moved the court after failing to lodge a case with the police and the Anti Corruption Commission (ACC).

The court instructed the detective police to investigate whether they could not file case with the agencies.
"The court will give an order on the issue after getting the report by the detectives," said court official Omar Fuad.
Chittagong Traffic Police's Assistant Commissioner Mahmuda Begum, her husband Jalal Uddin Sagar, Chandgaon Police Station assistant sub-inspectors Hafiz, Khaled and one Ibrahim Masud have been accused in the complaint.
Sagar is a reporter at Chittagong-based online news outlet ctnews24.com.
Mahbub Mosrhed told bdnews24.com that his wife filed a case over family feud accusing him of detaining their three children.
"On Aug 3, police went to my Chandgaon house and brought us to the police station. Jalal Uddin Sagar was also present then," he said.
According to Morshed, Sagar, being the husband of a police official, forced Chandgaon police station officers to conduct a raid to nab him.
He claimed that he along with their three children were detained for two days and produced before a Chittagong court on Aug 5.
