Fish trader sentenced to death

A court has sentenced to death a fish trader for the murder of another fish trader, Abdul Kuddus of Sirajganj’s Sahajadpur.

The court of Sirajaganj's Second Additional District and Sessions judge Fazle Khoda Md Nazir gave the verdict in the presence of convict on Wednesday.

The convict Mansur, 30, is the son of Kala Chan, a native of Raghabbaria village under Ullaparha Upazila.

Apart from the capital punishment, the court also fined the convict Tk 20,000.

For lack of evidence another accused Sahidul Islam was acquitted by the court, public prosecutor Abdul Hamid Sarkar told bdnews24.com.
As per the case details fish trader Abdul Kuddus (32), son of Nabi Chand of Dariapur locality under Sahajadpur Upazila, went missing on Nov 4, 2009. Business rivalry was suspected to be behind his disappearance.
Following day his mutilated body was recovered from the Upazila’s Nabipur village.
Wife of the slain fish trader, Bulbuli Khatun later filed a case accusing the two persons for the murder.
