Noakhali journalist, 2 others injured in attack

A journalist and two others were injured when a group of miscreants attacked the former's home at Chowmuhani in Noakhali's Begumganj on Sunday night.

Private channel Jamuna TV's district correspondent Motasim Billah Sabuj, 37, his father Qazi Solaiman, 75, and Abdur Rahim, 20, an assistant to Solaiman, were stabbed with sharp weapons during the attack, police said.
Assailants first attacked Solaiman in front the house around 10pm, Begumganj Police Station OC Mostafizur Rahman said. The attack on the other two followed later.
They fired several rounds at the time to create panic in the area.
Locals chased two of the attackers and caught them with a light gun (LG) and five rounds of bullets. Later they handed the duo to police.
The two - identified as 'Sumon' and 'Swapan' - were being questioned at the police station, OC Rahman said.
Of the injured, Solaiman and Rahim were rushed to Noakhali Abdul Malek Medical College and Hospital first. They were later sent to Dhaka for better treatment.
Police suspect the attack was carried out following bad blood.
