Cancer patient commits suicide at DMCH

A patient at the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) has killed himself on Tuesday.

Md Nurunnabi, 40, hailing from Lakhshmipur, jumped off from the eighth floor of the hospital around 9.45am. He was being treated for cancer.

DMCH's Director Md Mostafizur Rahman told bdnews24.com Nurunnabi jumped off from the eighth-floor balcony all of a sudden, while his wife was taking him to the toilet.

He was rushed to the DMCH's Emergency Department where the doctors pronounced him dead.

Nurunnabi, who was diagnosed with blood cancer, was admitted to the DMCH between Aug 16 and 26. He was brought to the hospital on Tuesday for treatment.
He returned to Bangladesh in the first week of August after living in Bahrain for six years, said Rahman.
"Father often used to say that 'I have been diagnosed with cancer. Will I live anymore! Why waste the money?' He was saying the same this morning at the hospital," said his son 'Rakib'.
Nurunnabi is survived by three sons and two daughters.
