Farooqi was killed in his own home in East Razabazar by a gang of assailants on Aug 27, while other members of his family were tied up.
He used to be the international affairs secretary of the Sunni organisation, Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat, and also hosted television shows on Islam.
Police arrested Mahmuda Khatun and Shariful Islam from Muraparha of Narayanganj’s Roopganj on Saturday.
They later arrested one ‘Yusuf’ from Comilla.
According to the victim's family, a woman claiming to be Farooqi’s admirer had come to visit him on Wednesday, hours before his killing.
Police earlier said Mahmuda admitted going to Farooqi's home before the murder.
Farooqi’s family said two youths had come to his house after the woman left, saying they wanted to go on Hajj. About seven more people barged when the door was opened.
Farooqi’s son Foysal Farooqi filed a case accusing seven to eight unidentified killers with She-e-Bangla police the night his father was killed.
