"The killers who are hiding abroad must be brought back and executed," Hamid said on Saturday, speaking at a discussion on Bangabandhu.

"The nation must know that the killers cannot take refuge anywhere in the world."

After the final verdict on the Bangabandhu murder case, five convicts have been hanged but some are still absconding in foreign countries. The government is saying it is trying to bring them back.

"After 35 long years, at least the trial of the assassination of Bangabandhu and his family has been completed. The nation has been freed of a stigma," the president said.

"It is a tragic incident not only in our history, but also in the history of the world," he said.

"The killers aimed not only to murder a president but to wipe out the ideology of the Liberation War and re-establish the defeated forces," he said.
Hamid urged all quarters to come together to build a prosperous nation as dreamt by Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. He urged everyone to stand by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to achieve that dream.
University Grants Commission Chairman AK Azad Chowdhury delivered the keynote speech at the discussion.
