The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) identified them as Amena Begum, Nayeem Ahmed and ‘Rajan’ but gave no further details.

“We received a tip-off and raided various places in the capital to arrest them on Monday. We have information on why they killed him,” RAB Assistant Director Masudul Alam told bdnews24.com.

Details would be given in a press briefing at the RAB headquarters in the afternoon, said the official.

Jahangir was shot dead in front his house in East Agargaon on Aug 9 while he was returning from a meeting.

He aspired for the post of his father-in-law and Awami League Ward 41 President Hazi Noor Mohammad.

Noor, accused of killing Ward Awami League leader Fazlul Haque, has been missing since the murder in 2011.

His other son-in-law, Abdul Mannan, also disappeared two months after Noor went missing.

His family said both men had been taken away by law enforcers but their claim was dismissed.

Among Hazi Noor’s two sons, ‘Mamun’ was killed, and ‘Bagha’ died of natural causes. His eldest son ‘Mintu’ has been absconding as he has several cases against him, including murder.

Police claim ‘Mintu’ had a team working for him in Agargaon.

Jahangir used to manage Noor’s assets in his absence, an arrangement ‘Mintu’ did not like, a police officer had said after the former was murdered.
