The two groups clashed around 5pm near the university’s Suhrawardy Hall.

Some of those residing on the campus said several shots were fired during the clash.

Proctor Prof Sirajuddoula told bdnews24.com that additional police forces had been deployed on the campus to control the situation.

Hathazari Police Station OC Ismail Hossain told bdnews24.com that they were trying to disperse the warring groups.
In January this year, two students were killed and many others injured during a turf war between the BCL and Shibir at CU’s Shah Amanat Hall.
The university authorities had sealed the dormitory after that incident.
Recently, the university authorities decided to reopen it after cancelling the seats allotted earlier. They have also invited applications for allotment of new seats.
