In a media statement, the BTCL said it had taken steps to repair 5,100 pairs of cables damaged during the theft.

It hopes to restore services within four to five days.

In March this year, around 2,500 land phones went out of service in Dhaka’s Asadgate locality as a number of primary cables had snapped during a WASA repair work.
