Medical entry test on Oct 24

The tests for admission into medical and dental colleges of Bangladesh will take place on Oct 24.

The examinations will be held from 10am to 11:00am for all public and private medical and dental colleges at the same time, Medical Education Director ABM Abdul Hannan told bdnews24.com on Wednesday.
The test was scheduled in a meeting chaired by Health Minister Mohammed Nasim at the ministry, he said.
The prerequisite for taking the tests was GPA 8 attained in Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSC) examinations combined.
The minimum marks required to pass the test was moved up from 20 to 40, the health directorate had earlier announced. No other major changes have been made to the process, said Hannan.
The system to hold entry tests for medical colleges was started in 1980, as admission required no tests before Bangladesh was liberated in 1971.
There were 8,493 seats available in all the medical and dental colleges combined.
The vacancies for the 22 government medical college were 2,811 while a total 4,245 seats were available for students seeking to enter the 53 private medical colleges in the country.
The nine public dental colleges and the dental units in medical colleges have 567 seats available.
