‘Youths must tackle challenges’

The US ambassador in Dhaka has urged youths to use their skills to overcome the challenges facing Bangladesh.

Dan Mozena was speaking at the Millennium University, celebrating International Youth Day on Tuesday.

He said Bangladesh was blessed with many natural resources and a hard working people, but still faced difficulties nonetheless.

He identified inadequate roads, railroads, port capacity, energy and power supplies and governance issues such as corruption, lack of rule of law, red tape, and political instability as the challenges before the country.

“This is your task …,” he told the youths, “use your skills to overcome these challenges; use your skills to seize the great opportunities for Bangladesh”.

University Vice Chancellor Prof Abu Ayub Md Baquer, Chairman of its Board of Trustee Rukhsana Khandaker were present, among others.
