2 held with over 5,000 yaba tablets in Chittagong

Police have recovered over 5,000 yaba tablets in the port city.

Chittagong Metropolitan Police’s Assistant Commissioner Abdur Rouf said that two people had been arrested in connection with the recovery made early Saturday morning in the city’s Nandankanan area.

They arrested men are Abul Hossain, 21, and Nasir Uddin, 20, residents of Cox's Bazar.

Kotwali Police Station sub-inspector Sanjay Sinha, who led the operation, told bdnews24.com that the two were roaming in a car between the Rifles’ Club and Shahid Minar areas.
"The car was stopped around 3am because of its suspicious movement. The two gave contradictory statements and seemed startled," said the police officer.
One of them confessed to carrying yaba tablets, when the police interrogated them, he added.
Police searched the vehicle and found 5,600 yaba tablets concealed beneath the seats.
