‘Shun differences to build nation’

President Md Abdul Hamid has urged people to shun differences for an united effort in nation building by imbibing the message of Eid-ul-Fitr.

At programme in Bangabhaban on Tuesday, the president said, “Eid brings about joy and happiness and fosters harmony and amity among people from various walks of life.

"On this holy day, I wish that lesson of Eid will inspire us to unite, shunning all our differences, to build a beautiful and prosperous country.”

The president exchanged Eid greetings with people from various walks of life. His wife Rashida Khanom and other members of his family were also present.

“Eid signifies Joy and happiness. After a month-long fasting, today we are celebrating Eid-ul-Fitr with the message of happiness.”

Chief Justice M Muzzammel Hossain exchanged Eid greetings with the president at Bangabhaban.

Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury and her husband Syed Ishtiaque Hossain were also there.

Among the other dignitaries the deputy speaker, several ministers, advisers to the state ministers, leaders of political parties, and diplomats also exchanged greetings with the president.

The chiefs of the three armed forces, members of parliament, judges of the Supreme Court, government officials, educationists, litterateurs, industry delegations and leaders of religious organisations too attended the programme.

The president and his wife exchanged pleasantries with the guests at the Darbar Hall of the Bangabhaban.
