'Cop killer' dies in ‘encounter’

The prime accused in the murder of an assistant sub-inspector has been shot dead during an 'encounter' with police at Tangail’s Mirzapur.

Ulka, 28, who led a gang named after him, was shot dead during a 'shootout' with the police at a village in Tarafpur Union around 5am Monday, said District Police Superintendant Saleh Md Tanvir.
Two his accomplices were injured, he said.
Tangail Sadar Police ASI Md Nurul Islam was shot during a late night raid to seize illegal firearms at the town's Purba Adalat Parha on Friday.
He succumbed to his wounds in the chest and hands at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital on Saturday.
Ulka was the prime accused the police case filed over the ASI's murder.
