Villagers thrash 5 robbers

Villagers have handed over five robbers to police after thrashing them in the Kathalbari union in Shibchar upazila in the early hours of Sunday.

Shibchar Police Station OC Abdus Sattar said quoting locals, "Around 20/25 dacoits raided Mojibor Munshi's house in the early morning hours."
"Hearing the scream of the Munshi family, locals surrounded the house and caught five robbers hiding in a nearby bush. However, five others managed to escape."
When police showed up in the morning, the locals handed them over.
The detained have been identified as Suruj Howlader, 35, Jalal Khan, 40, Rokon Munshi, 29, Samir Hossain, 28, and Shahin Howlader, 30.
OC Sattar said the detained had been accused in other cases of robbery in various places.
Prima facie, they had also been found to have been involved in a robbery at Chander Bazar in Shibchar.
