2 killed in Magura road accident

Two people were killed and six others injured on Saturday morning when a truck carrying buffaloes and a pickup van collided head-on at Sadar Upazila in Magura.

The accident took place around 7am on Magura-Dhaka highway at the Upazila's Kochundi, police said.

Highway police's Sub-Inspector (SI) Oziar Rahman said all the victims were dealing in used garments.

They were travelling on the pickup van on way to Magura.
Those killed were identified as Saddam Hossain, 25, and Saidul Islam, 25. Both hailed from the Sadar Upazila.
T 'Azadul', 22, 'Azizul', 24, 'Mintu', 18, 'Alamgir', 27, 'Momrez', 30, and 'Shimul', 21, were admitted to the Magura Sadar Hospital with injuries.
Quoting witnesses, SI Rahman told bdnews24.com that the truck coming from the opposite direction hit the pickup van, which was carrying nine people and loads of clothes.
Its front was smashed and nine of the passengers were critically injured.
Saddam and Saidul died shortly after they were rushed to the hospital along with the injured, said emergency services doctor Saiduzzaman Munna.
