Dhaka’s Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Bikash Kumar Saha issued the ruling on Monday after hearing an appeal filed by a lawyer Prashanta Kumar Karmakar.

The court has also instructed Directors (administration) of BSMMU and BIRDEM hospitals, deputy traffic commissioners of Ramna zone, deputy commissioner of Police of the same zone and OCs of Ramna and Shahbagh Police Stations to take necessary steps.

Plaintiff’s lawyer Syed Ahmed Gazi told bdnews24.com, “Prashanta Kumar has made the plea to reduce the accidents of students in that area and to ensure a hassle-free medical care to patients.”

The plaintiff sought court’s directive citing clause 25 which states that Supreme Court judges act as ‘Justices of Peace’ in the whole country while district, city and chief judicial judges play that role in their respective areas.
