The bench headed by Chief Justice Md Muzammel Hossain gave the order on Sunday.

Mosharraf will have to stay behind bars for now, lawyers have said.

Sunday’s order stayed the earlier bail order until Sep 2, and the plaintiffs have been asked to file regular appeals during that time.

The BNP leader had been granted bail by the bench of Md Rezaul Haque and Gobinda Chandra Tagore on special conditions on Jul 9.

The court had ordered the BNP Standing Committee member to surrender his passport and barred him from getting in touch with financial institutions related to the case filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

Both ACC and prosecution filed appeals with the Appellate Division.

The BNP standing committee member is accused of siphoning off Tk 95 million to UK when he was the minister of Health and Family Welfare during the 2001-2006 term of the BNP government.

ACC filed the case on Feb 9 and Mosharraf was arrested from his Gulshan residence on March 12.

He claims that the amount mentioned in the case had neither been siphoned nor laundered nor earned through illegal means.

During a hearing on Mar 13, he had told the court, “My wife and I earned the money between 1969 and 1973 while I was in London for higher education and had invested in the London stock exchange. The amount has over the years increased to US$ 95 million.”
