Police and fire service said the incident happened at Mahbub Alam’s house at Kumirakul in Mirzapur at around 8:30pm Sunday.
A fire-fighting unit from Hathazari fire station doused the blaze some half an hour later.

He said fire fighters retrieved their charred bodies.
The deceased are Alam’s wife Rosy Akter, 35, their three daughters Liza Akter, 12, Sima Akter, 10 and Jhuma Akter, 7, and son ‘Maruf’, 5.
Hathazari Police Station OC Md Ismail told bdnews24.com Mahbub was not at home when the fire broke out.
Agrabad fire service Assistant Deputy Director Jasim Uddin said they were investigating the incident.
