2 injured in train-truck collision

Two persons have been critically injured when a speeding train rammed into a truck at Bhurulia rail crossing in Gazipur.

The injured are identified as the driver of the truck and his assistant.

ASI Dadan Mia, posted at Joydevpur Railway junction, said, “The accident occurred at 2 pm at Bhurulia rail crossing."

The injured Tariqul Islam,40, and Maidul Islam,18, have been admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. Both of them are from Chandna.

“Dhaka-bound Haor Express hit the truck which got stranded on the rail track, due to some problem in its engine, while passing through a level crossing. Hosepipe of the train too has been damaged in the collision," ASI said.

Injured truck driver and his assistant were rushed to Gazipur Sadar Hospital. A doctor at the emergency care in Gazipur Sadar Hospital Pranay Bhushan stated that their condition was critical. The two were then referred to the DMCH.

Master Ziauddin Sarder of Joydevpur Railway Station said, “The train also got stranded as its hosepipe had been damaged in the collision. Higher officials were contacted so that hosepipe can be repaired as soon as possible."
