The workers were constructing a toilet at a school next to the temple in Faridpur’s Madhukhali Upazila
Upazila Executive Officer Abdul Aziz told bdnews24.com, "High tides on Wednesday afternoon washed away a Bangladesh Water Development Board (BWDB) embankment and inundated East Char Ramani Mohan village in Char Ramani Mohan union.”
The sudden flooding had marooned thousands of people, livestock, and poultry, he added.
He said he has spoken to the BWDB executive engineer for a quick repair of the breached embankment.
