So far, contraband gold has mostly been seized from passengers travelling by air.

On Wednesday, however, the bars were found on two passengers travelling by the ‘Turna Nishitha’ from Chittagong, Kamalapur Railway Police Station OC Abdul Majid said.

The two were detained for failing to produce documents to justify possession of so much gold.
They have been identified as ‘Dilu’, 34, and ‘Sumon’, 35.
The gold bars weighing 4kg in all were valued at Tk 20 million.
OC Majid said they had been tipped-off about the two.
“We searched them and found the gold bars from inside their socks,” he said.
However, police could not provide details about the two detained.
