Shahidul Islam, owner of a motor parts outlet at Chittagong's Kadamtali, went ‘missing’ on June 2.

His wife filed a case over his disappearance with Sadarghat police two days later.

Police traced him to Bagerhat earlier this month.
Islam said he borrowed a large sum of money -- around Tk 1 million -- from various people for business purpose. But he failed to pay them back.
Unable to clear his debts, he decided to flee Chittagong.
On June 2, he travelled to Sylhet, then he switched off his mobile phone and made his way to Bagerhat from there.
After reaching Bagerhat, he assumed the name of 'Shahid' and made acquaintance with one 'Rafiq'.
He started living with Rafiq and landed a job at a shop.
Police said they monitored Shahid for a few days. They were finally able to pinpoint his location through Rafiq by tracing mobile calls.
It is not clear whether he maintained contacts with his family.
Shahidul Islam was finally nabbed on Friday and was brought back to Chittagong on Saturday.
