She has been missing since Friday.

"She has been untraced so far," her brother Rafiq Mia said on Saturday. "Police are unable to say where she is."

Parvin Akter, hailing from Gazipur's South Panishail locality, is a councillor for ward number 1, 2, and 3.

She went out to attend an arbitration on Friday morning but did not return home.

Joydebpur's Chakrabarty outpost Sub-Inspector Md Mizanur Rahman said the locals gathered in front of Parvin Akter's house on Saturday and started agitating.

Later, they blocked the Kaliakoir-Nabinagar road and prevented vehicular movement for half an hour from 10:30am, he said.

A complaint has been filed with Joydebpur police over the councillor's disappearance.

Joydebpur police OC SM Kamruzzaman said they had received tips on Parvin Akter's location at Chirirbandar in Dinajpur's Hili.

"A special team of police is working to rescue her," he said.
