2 held with Tk 10mn gold

Customs officials have seized 1.2 kg of gold from two passengers who arrived from Malaysia at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka.

Detained Abdul Matin, 43, and Abdul Aziz, 44, arrived in Dhaka at 6am in a Bangladesh Biman flight from Kuala Lumpur.
Assistant Commissioner Customs (detective) Umme Nahida Akhter said, “They were detained while they were passing through the green channel of the airport.
“While checking their bodies and luggage, customs officials found the gold.
“A gold bar was found in broken pieces. Apart from that, Aziz had belt buckles made of 203 grams of gold while Matin possessed 200 grams of ornaments.”
The current market price of the seized gold was Tk 10 million, Nahida Akhter added.
