Tahmina Khatun, 45, wife of Abdul Qader, was hacked to death while trying to protect her daughter Jyotsna Khatun, 25, police said.

According to police, the attackers raided their house at Darshana’s Azampur neighbourhood in the Upazila around 8:15pm on Thursday.

Chuadanga’s Assistant Superintendent of Police Kamruzzaman told bdnews24.com that Tahmina was hacked with sharp weapons.
At least seven men, brandishing weapons, came on a microbus and raided their house when a power outage hit the town, he said.
They started hacking Tahmina when she tried to stop them from abducting Jyotsna.
The critically injured mother died while being rushed to Chuadanga Sadar Hospital.
ASP Kamruzzaman said Jyotsna worked with a local NGO besides studying.
He said police were conducting raids and hoped to arrest the miscreants very soon.
