5 Indians held with 4.5 kg gold

Border Guards Bangladesh (BGB) has held 5 Indians with 4.5 Kgs of gold in Jessore city.

BGB Commander in Jessore Lt Col Matiur Rahman said, “5 Indians were held from Dhaka-bound bus in Laujani’s Jessore-Benapole highway around Sunday noon.”

Detained are Rajkumar, Rohit Ashok, Rakesh Lakshman Bai, Bijaykumar and Kamal. All are from Maharashtra.

BGB found 76 gold bars worth Tk20.20 million after searching their bodies, added Lt Col Matiur.

Lt Col Matiur also said, “Detainees’ passports indicate that they had arrived Dhaka from Dubai on June 19 and then went to Benapole on Sunday. But without entering India, they tried to return to Dhaka.”
