Fire-fighters doused the flames one-and-a-half-hour after it broke out around 6pm, said DEPZ Fire Service’s Station Officer Abdul Hamid Mia.

However, Industrial Police officials said there were no immediate reports of casualties.

Mia said the fire originated from the storage on the ground floor of the four-storey factory, ‘Z-A Apparels Limited’, situated at Ashulia’s Kuturia. The flames then spread very quickly.

He said six units of fire-fighters from Savar, DEPZ and Dhamrai Fire Service and Civil Defence stations put out the fire.

Meanwhile, a fire broke out at another factory at Ashulia’s Narsinghpur earlier on the day.

An electric short-circuit in the server room of the factory, ‘Medlar Apparels Limited’, started the fire around 2:15pm, said Industrial Police’s ASP Shahidul Islam.

He told bdnews24.com that 20 workers were injured while hastily trying to get out of the multi-story building.

But the factory’s own fire-fighting team managed to extinguish the fire before two units of Fire Service from DEPZ station reach there.

The fire completely gutted the server room.

The management later closed the factory for a day.
