5 kidnapped in Ramu, Rangamati

Three persons including a bank official have been kidnapped from Cox’s Bazar’s Ramu Upazila.

Abductors whisked them away from Bang Deba area around 11:30pm on Monday, said Ramu Police Station OC Saikul Ahmed.

Those abducted have been identified as Jitendra Kumar, accounts officer of Krishi Bank’s Baishari branch and businessman Md Selim. Identity of the third person kidnapped was not yet known.

The three were on their way back to Ramu from Bandarban by an auto-rickshaw, the OC said.
Police along with Border Guard Bangladesh personnel has launched a search operation to rescue the victims.
Meanwhile, two men were abducted at gunpoint from Rangamati’s Longadu Upazila on Monday night.
Priyo Chakma and his elder brother Sushomoy Chakma were whisked away from their house, Longadu Police Station OC Abul Kalam Chowdhury said.
Parbatya Chattagram Jana Sanghati Samity (PCJSS- Santu Larma faction) said the two abducted were supporters of their party.
The party blamed the other faction (JSS-MN Larma) for the abduction.
JSS leader Prasanta Chakma denied the allegation.
OC Chowdhury said they rushed policemen to the spot.
