They smashed two idols at the temple devoted to Goddess Durga on Tuesday night, said Lalpur Police OC Abdul Hye Talukder.
Santosh Kumar, president of ‘Naoparha Durga Mandir’ said he found the idols of Ganga and Saraswati broken and thrown on the road in front of the temple.
A hay stack in front of the temple was also set on fire, he said.
Bikash Kundu, the temple’s general secretary, said the attackers broke the bamboo gate and took out the idols before smashing them into pieces.
