Those killed were identified as Sushanta Chakma, 40 and Tridev Chakma, 35.

The two were former activists of Parbatya Jana Sanghati Samity faction (JSS- MN Larma), said the organisation's press secretary Prashanta Chakma.

He blamed the Santu Larma led JSS faction for the killing.

JSS's (Santu Larma) press secretary Sajib Chakma denied the allegation.

According to JSS-MN Larma, the brothers were called out from their home at Mohanpara area of Baghaichhari Upazila around 5am and then shot dead.

He said that the brothers were 'inactive' for quite some time now.

Baghaichhari Police Station OC Azizur Rahman told bdnews24.com that they were aware of the murders.

"The locals have informed us. Our team is on the way to the spot."
