Woman found dead at Cox's Bazar hotel

Police have recovered a woman hanging dead from the ceiling of her hotel room in Cox's Bazar on Tuesday night.

The victim has been identified as Rahima Khatun, 22, who hails from Gazipur.

Police have detained one Aminul Islam, 25, who had checked in with the victim at the 'Sea Hossain Cottage' in the beach town.

The two had registered themselves as husband and wife while checking in,

Sub inspector Sunil Sutradhar of Cox's Bazar police station told bdnews24.com: "After initial interrogation Aminul admitted that the two were friends but not married. Aminul said that he booked their return bus tickets to Dhaka but found the door of the room closed on return and called in the manager after Rahima did not open the door despite constant knocking."

The hotel authorities informed the police after Rahima was found hanging from the ceiling fan.

Doctors at the Cox's Bazar Sadar hospital declared her dead when she was taken there.

The body has been kept at the hospital's morgue.
