Murders in Mirpur

Bodies of two young men have been found in Dhaka's Mirpur area.

The bodies with multiple stab wounds were found past midnight around 1:30am on Monday in South Pirerbag on a street called Bottolar Goli.

The victims are yet to be identified. Police ascertain they are between 35-40 years old.

Mirpur Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Anwar Hossain told bdnews24.com there were two motorcycles lying around the dead bodies.

Police also found the mobile phones of the victims and made calls from them, Senior Assistant Commissioner of Detective Police Md Touhidul Islam said.

A woman received the call and said the phone belonged to her husband Jahangir, who was a businessman.

The other phone, received by a man, said another victim was Kaiyum and could not give further details.

But the identities of the bodies could not be confirmed as their relatives are yet to identify them, Islam said.

Mirpur Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Salahuddin said the motive behind the killing would be known only after they were identified.

Workers of an under-construction building told the OC they heard shouting and scuffle around midnight.

Later they found the two bodies lying on the road and informed the police.

The bodies have been sent to the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital morgue in the morning.
