The incident took place on Monday afternoon, said Satkania Police Station Officer-in Charge Khaled Hossain.

Injured Abul Kalam, 35, was admitted to the Chittagong Medical College and Hospital (CMCH).

Local Jamaat activist Shahid fired at Kalam over a turf war to establish supremacy in the locality, the OC said.

Kalam’s younger brother Akhter Hossain said Shahid and his men attacked his brother at a tea stall and shot him in his right leg.

Locals rescued him and rushed him to the Upazila Health Complex. From there, he was shifted to the CMCH.
