ACC Assistant Director Hamidul Hasan wrote to the EC on Monday, seeking the details of Hawlader’s affidavit.

The watchdog has initiated investigations into his assets following complaints of amassed wealth inconsistent with his known sources of income and the grabbing of government land.

On April 10, Jatiya Party Presidium Member Ziauddin Ahmed Bablu replaced Hawlader as the party’s new Secretary General.
A senior EC official said the ACC had requested the EC to send copies of Hawlader’s affidavit and other relevant documents by April 22.
Hawlader was an MP from Patuakhali-1 in the previous parliament.
The EC would collect the papers from the returning officer concerned and send them to the ACC, the official said.
