This comes soon after the Hifazat leader have tried to feed public perception that he is close to the ruling Awami League.

ACC Chittagong zone-1 Deputy Assistant Director HM Akhteruzzaman submitted the charge sheet at the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate’s court in Chittagong on Monday.

The graft watchdog filed the case against Izahar on Sept 17 last year for not replying to a notice served on him after allegations of amassing wealth beyond known sources of income surfaced against Izahar.
Akhteruzzaman said Mufti Izahar had committed offence by not receiving the notice.
The notice was issued on July 4 last year but Mufti Izahar did not receive it.
Later the ACC authorities pasted the notice in a Madrasa run by the Hifazat leader in Chittagong's Lalkhan Bazar.
Three people were killed in a bomb explosion in the Madrasa last year.
Three cases were filed over the explosion accusing Mufti Izahar and his son of involvement.
He is now absconding.
