However, the Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate’s court granted bail to BNP Standing Committee member Mirza Abbas in the same case on Sunday.

Abbas produced documents that showed him to be ill.

The three stand accused in a case filed with Rampura police over the death of a Islami Chhatra Shibir leader in Dhaka during the BNP-led 18-Party Alliance’s Dec 29 ‘March For Democracy’ programme.

Shibir is the student affiliate of BNP’s key ally Jamaat-e-Islami.

BNP Standing Committee members Goyeshwar and Abbas, and Joint Secretary General Aman secured bail from the High Court in the case.

They surrendered to the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate’s court on Sunday morning after the bail expired on Saturday.

Shibir’s Dakshinkhan Thana unit chief Mansur Pradhania was killed in a clash at Malibagh’s Chowdhuryparha during the Dec 29 'March for Democracy'.

A murder case was filed over the death.
