He said the BNP leaders were again instigating terrorism, anarchy and killing, but these would be ‘of no use’.
Islam suggested the BNP leaders should launch democratic movement with masses behind them and then ‘the dialogue would follow’.
The Awami League leader turned down the BNP’s demand of elections under the supervision of the non-party government.
The present government would remain in power until 2019 in keeping with the Constitution, he said.
“What is the dialogue for? There would not be any dialogue for the caretaker (government). No caretaker on this soil.”
Islam, however, said the government would respond if the BNP wanted to discuss issues on ‘strengthening’ the Election Commission.
