ETV’s chief correspondent Mahathir Faruqui told bdnews24.com that reporter Ilias Hossain and cameraperson Manirul Islam went to the hospital to ‘report a story’.
Intern doctors attacked them, broke the camera and later held them hostage at the hospital director’s office.
Two other ETV news teams, working in the area, rushed to the hospital. Faruqui claimed that they too were attacked and the doctors also broke their cameras.
The hospital authorities, however, claimed that the issue was resolved.
Deputy Director of Mitford hospital Abu Yusuf told bdnews24.com the journalists were taking pictures at the female ward without any permission, which intern doctors protested.
The issue was resolved after a discussion between senior officials of ETV and the hospital authorities, he added.
