Education ministry sets rules for picnics, study tours

The education ministry has issued a set of directives that educational institutions will have to follow when sending out students on study tours or picnics.

The guidelines contained in a ministry circular issued on Thursday makes it mandatory for students get the head of the institution’s permission before setting out, and must have a teacher as their escort.

The students will have to fix their tour area or the picnic spot beforehand. The local administration, too, must be kept informed.

In case the touring team is rather big, the education ministry, too, must be told about the plan.

The circular advises institutions to follow local safety rules during such outings.
