Chittagong district unit Director of the then Anti-Corruption Bureau Shamsul Islam filed the case against him on February 13, 2002, on charges of allocating shops at the bus terminal area in the port city’s Muradpur by misusing his power as a Mayor.
Rony Kumar Dey said that Mohiuddin had secured bail from the High Court at that time. The proceedings of the case remained suspended following a High Court stay order.
Recently the High Court withdrew the stay order and referred the case to the lower court for settlement.
The court was scheduled to hold the hearing in the case on Wednesday.
