Youth beaten to death in city

Friends have beaten to death a youth in Dhaka’s Mohammadpur area on Monday, police said.

The deceased was identified as Mehedi Hasan Apu, 20, a resident of the Atibazar area in Keganiganj.

His mother Selina Begum told reporters at the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) that Apu’s friend Akther Sagar and three others severely injured him with bricks near the Basila bridge around noon.

He was at first rushed to the Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College and Hospital and later shifted to the DMCH, as his condition worsened.
He succumbed to his wounds around 5:30pm.

Sub-Inspector of the DMCH Police Outpost Fazlur Rahman told bdnews24.com that Apu was attacked following a dispute over the sharing of the stolen money.

Meanwhile, miscreants hacked a man to death in the city’s Sutrapur on Monday night.

The deceased was identified as ‘Indrajit’, 45.

Police recovered the body from the fifth floor of the House No. 26/1 of Paridas Road, Officer-in-Charge of the Sutrapur Police Station Khalilur Rahman told bdnews24.com.

He said that Indrajit had rented the house a few days ago.
