No trace of 4 missing students

No trace has been found of the four students of Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology a day after they went missing off the coast of Saint Martin’s Island.

However, condition of the three students rescued on Monday was now stable, doctors said.

A team of Coast Guard and navy divers are still at sea looking for the four gone missing.

The search would continue until they were found, said Lt Quazi Harun-or-Rashid, commander of Teknaf Station.

Thirty-four students from the university’s computer science department came to the island and checked into local ‘Senjun Hotel’.

All the students went to the sea on Monday afternoon.

Locals and coast guards rescued five of them and took them to Teknaf Upazila Hospital.

Two of them -- Monfezul Islam and Saddam Hossain – died later.

The bodies were taken by their relatives, said Teknaf Police Station OC Ranjit Kumar Barua.

Four students – Sabbir Hassan, Shahriar Rahman, Udoy Mahmud and Golam Rahim Bappy -- still remained missing.

The three other rescued students -- Farhanul Haque, Asif Mostafa and Iftekhar Mahmud Faisal, who were later shifted to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital, were now out of danger, the hospital’s medical officer Amir Siraji said.
