Hasibi Shahidi Shishir, who took treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) on Tuesday afternoon, accused Mancha spokesperson Imran H Sarker of masterminding the attack.

Right after the incident, Kamal Pasha Chowdhury, a Mancha activist who some days ago claimed to have expelled Imran from the organisation, held a press conference making the same accusation.

Imran has rejected the claims.

He said Shishir had named Nabendu Saha Joy as the attacker, but Joy has been at his hometown of Narayanganj for some days.

Shishir went to DMCH with a wound on his left hand in the afternoon.

“The palm of his left hand had a gash. The patient claimed it was a knife wound. We stitched it up and released him,” DMCH Resident Surgeon KM Riaz Morshed told bdnews24.com.

Shishir told bdnews24.com, “Siraj, Nabendu Saha Joy and Ariful Islam, who are Imran’s supporters, stabbed me and ran away.”

Kamal Pasha Chowdhury, SM Shahin and Habibullah Misbah held a press conference at Shahbagh where they accused Imran of the attack.

“From the day we separated ourselves from them we have been under attack,” Kamal said.

He said preparations were being taken to file a case against Siraj, Joy and Ashraful Hasan Sunny.

Imran Sarker told bdnews24.com Ganajagaran Mancha had no groups, and therefore the allegation that the attackers were from ‘Imran group’ were wrong.

“Shishir is one of our activists. We also want to know who attacked him,” he said.
